That’s what Federal Employment and Guidance Service [FEG] staff and board members thoughts. An 80-year-old New York City institution with 281 employees and a $215 million budget had to shut its doors forever a few years ago. You can read about it here.

My job is not to analyze their experience, but rather to help you look in the mirror, see what you see, ask questions about what you really want and then work with you to achieve your own organization’s true sustainability.

I do this through organizational consulting by helping to create a culture of philanthropy throughout your organization. I’ll work with your CEO/ED and board/best advocates to create a true sustainability plan that involves planning for, creating and/or growing your endowment. I’ll also work with you to work with your staff-your best brand ambassadors!-to help them understand their role [EVERYONE has a role in the Culture of Philanthropy]. They do NOT have to ask for money [they can leave that fun to the CEO], but every day in every way each and every staff person is a Philanthropy Magnet whether or not s/he realizes it.

This work takes time to prepare, process, buy-in and roll out so there is a minimum of a 12-month contract for this service. For national engagements, I would fly in monthly and supplement with telephone and skype meetings [I have complete success with this moel, have been doing it for years]. For local engagements, I would appear twice monthly and have telephone meetings in between.
